The idea of helping children to go to school stems from our experience as we have seen first hand just how difficult it is to have an education in a country ranked amongst the 10 poorest nations in the world. |

A quarter of Nepal's population live below the poverty line and almost half of the Nepali people are unemployed. Currently 70% of the children start school but only 7% reach their 10th school year and gain their School Leaving Certificate. The literacy rate in Nepal is 65% for male and 47% for the female population. |

We believe every child should have the right to go to school. As a sponsor you can be sure that all money you donate goes directly into this program. We have chosen to send the children to private schools instead of government schools, for reason of quality of education. Therefore the school fees are somewhat higher than you may expect. Books, stationary and uniform are the same as in a governmental school. Apart from that the only costs are the ones made by the project manager on behalf of the project and they rise to about $1 per child per month. |
